Straight Talk May 2015

Equipped with two turntables a mixer and a microphone, DJ Rio, resident Disc Joc at the Terra Nova Regency & Bar, took Boy’s Town All Age School to fever pitch on May 1, for the most recent rendition of the Straight Talk series put on by the Charles Hyatt Foundation.

He skillfully introduced the students to the business behind ‘spinning’ and got the students riled up, wanting a “try” at the talent.  DJ Rio didn’t disappoint as he allowed 2 students to actually put on the headphones and mix songs.  Also in the mix were Ms. Campbell and Ms. Oakley going neck and neck to see which teach was the best on the ‘1’s’ and ‘2’s’.  The triumphant Ms. Oakley took the competition and was eager to involve others.

All the people in the room were mesmerized by, not only the skill of, DJ Rio but also how much fun they were having and the impact on the audience regardless of good or bad results.

By the end of the session, students were teaching adults how to dance and the students enjoyed themselves to the fullest.20150501_084336[1]
